Employee Spotlight – Sergei Lishchenko, Digital Experience Technology Services, ViewTrade

What was your first job?

My first job was when I was still in high school. I was an intern at a production agency called agency.com. And after that, the first more real job not an internship was at my college, Polytechnic University, where I was a member of the web team and built all kinds of websites, including university website.

What excites you about financial technology today?

First thing is probably democratization of financial technology, where the advanced tools that before even 10 years ago, have been available to a select group of people who had to pay quite a lot for access and now available virtually to anyone. And this didn’t happen only because of proliferation of technology, but also because of the internet access, which is now readily available almost anywhere in the world. And the phones themselves are also connected to data, so it’s access to real-time information that’s now available through their phones. It’s all instant.

What impact do you hope to make with ViewTrade?

Over the time I have been with ViewTrade. I’ve seen this industry to evolve from. Quite a simple set of tools with a limited number of people have access to it, to much more complex ecosystem, accessible almost to anyone around the world. So, you need to always adopt your products and services to the current trends, to the needs of clients.

What’s one skill you think will be essential for the future of this industry?

Adaptability. I want to highlight two skills. One, you need to understand regulatory and compliance regulations in different regions with different types of clients. Different accounts. The second is have a right thinking like when you design something product to service. Don’t only put yourself in a box of an app or a website or web-based product. Think API system where other clients can connect to an integrate into their products or services seamlessly.
